The Live Bookstore Interview: You Are Not Alone In This with Sophie Scott
Sophie’s mission is to guide people to confront the shadows that hold them back.
As a child, she was known for repeatedly asking, “But why?” Sophie likes to think this curiosity was a precursor to the way she lives her life and approaches her work today. What she knows for certain is that she has always had a deep interest in understanding what drives people and how they came to be. This passion has taken many forms throughout her career.
As a qualified integrative psychotherapist, Sophie works with individuals to help them better understand themselves. As a founder, she creates products and services that inspire people to make healthier life choices.
When Sophie founded BALANCE, the UK’s award-winning wellness media brand, she brought her passion for mental and physical wellbeing to a wide audience. As Editor-in-Chief for five years, she championed innovation and accessibility across the wellness industry, collaborating with A-list talent such as Joe Wicks, Fearne Cotton, Deepak Chopra, and Ricky Gervais, while forming partnerships with global brands like Pukka, Unilever, and Nike.
Through this journey, Sophie discovered that businesses of all sizes were beginning to recognize the value of transparency and conversations about mental health.
Today, Sophie thrives on working with curious individuals and bold businesses eager to push through limitations and expand into new territories, both literally and metaphorically.
In her groundbreaking book, You Are Not Alone In This: Supporting a Loved One’s Mental Health Without Losing Your Own, Sophie draws on moving client stories, proven therapeutic techniques and her own personal journey to help you navigate the emotional complexities of caring for someone with mental illness – while still taking care of yourself.
