Course details
Module #1: The Launch
Module 1 is all about getting excited!
In this first module we’ll explore the question of why a podcast? and then explore the topic of your podcast, and if you’re still deciding on a topic we’ll look at ways to get clear and decide.
We’ll talk about choosing your avatar (and what this is!) and whether or not you need to be an expert in your field.
We’ll discuss things that hold a lot of people from starting a podcast and also look at the incredible and inspiring upside to starting your own.
And yes, of course, all along this process I’m going to be sharing everything I know about podcasting.
Module #2: Tech
In this module we’ll explore what’s actually required to get a podcast up and running. The nuts and bolts.
And let me just say that putting a podcast together doesn’t have to be crazy. I simply have a computer and a microphone. That’s it.
Having said that though, we’ll look at options:
microphones
boom stands
editing software
music
art, and in addition, what it means to have a hosting platform.
Module #3: Marketing
Why are you doing this podcast?
Are you a clinician thinking about using a podcast to establish yourself as a subject matter expert? Then this is a great way to do it.
Are you considering using your podcast to help get more clients? This is a great way to do it!
What’s your message? Do you even need a message?
What’s your voice?
Who are your people, your audience and how are you going to reach them?
The truth is that you have to get the word out if you want people to listen.
In this module we’ll talk about all the ways you can do that, and I’ll share the up and downs of my own experience!
Module #4: Monetization
Can you make money from your podcast?
The answer is yes, of course.
Are you going to be able to quit your job and live happily forever on a beach?
The answer to that is probably no, but we’ll discuss all the specifics.
Diving in a bit more though we’ll look at what it means to monetize your podcast and the various ways podcasters do it.
I’ll talk about what I did to start getting sponsors and I’ll share with you everything I’ve learned and everything I still use, include email templates I send out to prospective sponsors.
