Trauma-Informed Occupational Therapy with Alyson Stover

Alyson Stover is an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at The University of Pittsburgh. She earned her juris doctorate in law with a post-graduate certificate in health law from the U of P. Her day-to-day client practices focus on using occupation, self-advocacy, and role-defining to create a path to healing for individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual trauma, and PTSD.

A survivor of trauma herself, her focus areas of practice expertise include trauma-informed occupational therapy and holistic approaches to substance use disorder, and she is a AOTA Board Certified in Pediatrics. She has committed long-standing and far-reaching efforts to increase awareness of and access to occupational therapy services at local, state, and federal levels.

She is the current board president of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She loves to share the benefits of the unique lens of occupational therapy.
